Creating in the New Year
With the New Year approaching there is often a lot of talk about resolutions, goals and creating new intention about what you would like to achieve.
Setting goals is a great way to creating the life that you envision for yourself. Many times the goals are similar to goals set the year before. Working with the energy and intention of the New Year is a beautiful place to start. Noticing thoughts which are blocking you from achieving these goals and changing them can also be an important step.
Some steps to guide you in your process;
Sit down in a quiet space with time set aside specifically to create your list is the first step. (make sure you have turned off the phone and any distractions)
Brainstorm about all of the possibilities, free write for five minutes or more on whatever comes to mind. Include all categories you can think of; where you would like to live, what the atmosphere of your home is like, how will you feel next year, what is the quality of your relationships, what would be the ideal career situation, how much money would you like to make, what does your health look like? How is your energy? Your spiritual practice? Your social interactions? Your fun, your adventure, your quiet time.
When you are finished this step, take out a second piece of paper and sit back for a few minutes reflecting on what you have written.
Imagine yourself enjoying your improved health, atmosphere, relationships etc.
Take a few minutes or more to notice the thoughts which come to mind, as you read over and feel your goals and inspirations.
Write down those thoughts, negative or positive. Just notice them and write them down.
When you have finished this step, put a star beside any doubting thoughts and an exclamation point beside the positive ones. Then turn the negative ones into positive affirmations.
Example; “That would be impossible” becomes “Anything is possible!”
Now go back to your brainstorm sheet, rewriting your goals in a list. As you write down each goal take a moment to really feel and imagine what it would be like to achieve that goal. Add your positive affirmations around the border of the list.
For this year keep the list handy, perhaps beside your bed, on the fridge, or on the wall in your room. Add to it, change it, cross things off, keeping it as a work in progress. When you read your list this coming year, notice the positive affirmations and say them aloud.
Good Luck and have a inspiring 2010!
