Workshop on Menopause and Peri-Menopause Feb.9th

We will be holding a workshop on Monday Feb.9th at 6:30 at the clinic discussing the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Mayan Abdominal Massage during  peri-menopause and menopause.

Traditional medicine has been treating menopause for thousands of years and in many cultures it is seen as a time of wisdom and reflection and many women go through this transition with very little discomfort.

Lifestyle is one of the most important factors in the peri-menopausal and menopausal years. It is so importnt to lead a balanced life, having time to relax and calm the mind, spend time with friends and family, laugh, exercise. These will all contribute to less discomfort during menopause.

There have been several medical studies showing the benefits of acupuncture in reducing hot flushes and helping with insomnia and anxiety, however we feel it is best to “treat” menopause before any of these discomforts occur. Taking care of yourself during the perei-menopausal years will have a profound effect on how you manage menopause. The first place to look is your menstrual cycle, is the blood colour brown or purple, do you suffer from PMS, insomnia that is worse during the menstural cycle, headaches with menstruation, heavy bleeding? All these discomforts are giving clues as to subltle imbalances within the body that can be reduced or eliminated with some self care such as, changes in lifestyle,  healthy diet, stress reduction,  personalized herbal formula, massage and acupuncture.  Adopting these self care changes in the peri-menopausal years will dramatically reduce the discomforts of menopause.

We will be discussing how to prepare for menopause and enjoy your wisdom years. If you would like to come to our seminar or book a consultation please contact the clinic at 250-334-3630.
